What
Grails is a JVM web framework (Groovy, convention-over-configuration). The clinician service is our only Grails application, and it runs a significantly outdated version.
Why this ring
There is no appetite to upgrade it or extend its life beyond what is absolutely necessary. It's a legacy service we want to shrink rather than grow, in line with consolidating backend work onto Elixir.
What does this mean
Don't add to it. Future effort should focus on moving logic out of the clinician service rather than building on it.
