What
Sentry is an error-monitoring and alerting platform that captures and groups exceptions from running applications. It's used across the frontend estate for production error monitoring - for example @sentry/react in clinician-portal. It's also been introduced in some backend applications, for example in UniFHIR.
Why this ring
It's our established standard for error monitoring, along with grafana. It's already in use across the estate and the default place to surface production errors.
What does this mean
Use Sentry for error monitoring in frontend applications, and for backend applications when Grafana error logs & alerting is not enough.
